 HAMILTON FUN FLY 2015
A trip to Hamilton for there annual fun fly and swap meet for David, Alex and Fred Chigwidden, weather was great , low 20's and light winds made for some good flying. Great to catch up with friends that we haven't seen since last year. The event was well supported with lots of planes and pilots, something the Hamilton club was most appreciative of as other events had reported poor attendances. For myself it is the pick of the bunch as it is a great weekend, most inviting and friendly atmosphere, pre xmas get together.

Above Trogans of all sizes and left/ below a very nice Gilmore racer, Evolution 9 cylinder radial up front, flew and sounded nice ..

 110 inch P47 Thunderbolt razor back, Composite ARF of excellent quality, 250 Moki radial [$5000] up front.
That scale prop hub is adjustable and you can vary the pitch on blades, cost $900, cockpit was reported as being the same. As you might guess model wasn't cheap either,$6000 plus $3500 for retracts, wheels and air kit, this one all up ready to fly will set you back $20000 +

Above some more nice models and right team Chiggy, another successful event, with myself taken out overall fun flyer of the event and dad with best scale model with the Gannett. All in all a top, relaxing, friendly weekend, that I will be attending again..............

Swamps Sundays Sept/Oct/Nov

SWAMPS SUNDAYS......
Since our A.GM mid Sept the weather has been perfect, with all but one Sunday afternoon being a bit windy, suitable for flying. Reports say that not just Sundays got a work out as well, with Saturdays and week days getting there share as well. Following are some of the aircraft that have taken to the sky in the past months

 John turned up with this very nice Tiger moth on 22 Nov, looked good and flew well.

SWAMPS A.G.M. 13.9.15

What a great day for an A.G.M., 25 degrees, light winds all day and a free barbie. Add plenty of planes,heli's,a drone, 2 monster trucks and lots of friends,what more can you ask for..........

 A.G.M. was started at 1.20pm and finished at 2.20pm, those in attendance were as follows; Fred / David & Alex Chigwidden, Bob Hurst, Chris and Clay Hance, Mike Schaarschmidt, Martin Thoonen, Trevor Boundy, Ron Pearson and Ted Stephenson . A new president had to be elected and  Mike Schaarschmidt has been appointed...... All other positions remained the same, David Chigwidden / Vice President, Fred Chigwidden / Treasurer  Secretary and Public Officer, Bob Hurst / Safety Officer and Contest Director, Committee Members Trevor Boundy and Ron Pearson, myself being nominated as Editor..... The treasurer's report revealed a healthy bank balance of $4296 of which some will be spent on some recycled stone to improve the track for those wetter months, approx' $600 and no other major spending fore casted. Fees are Seniors $200, Pensioners $180, Juniors $80 and Associates $70, all the same as last year. Although our membership is currently at 14 members, all attended agreed that we had a healthy club and a great well maintained flying field, Thanks mostly to Fred C and the little improvements that are ongoing was all that was needed......Our purchase of the gang mower a couple of years back and a recently donated ride on mower, certainly  make life easier and shows on the field. The meeting closed with scones, jam and cream, Many thanks to Carol our land lord. Thanks should also go to Fred C on the barbie and Chris's wife, Tamara for the salads............

Chris H's 30cc Gee bee with 3 cylinder Saito up front, unfortunately the model suffered serious damaged  after an error of judgement saw it hit the ground hard. Chris not being the only one to damage things despite the perfect day, myself included, must of been the shock of sunshine or just too relaxed, damaged ranged from bent under carts to broken wings

Left and below is Trevor Boundy showing off some control line skills, haven't seen  this for a while and Alex C had never seen and so was totally intrigued, don't know how Trevor does it, I would of been falling over after the first lap.

SWAMPS Sunday 30.8.15

Another fine Sunday, light winds early and late, 10 to 15k around lunch. Clear skies but those west winds came straight off westernport and made it cool. 5 pilots turned up and all had a good days flying, add Alex's nitro monster truck for something different

 Right is Chris H's OS BGX 35cc powered Cessna and below right the twin returns for some more flying. Next to that is an electric G Bee R3, Chris has a passion for these with I think 4 different sized versions, the biggest a 3 metre 150cc monster, not flying yet. If it flies as good as the 2 smaller ones it will be a site. These surprise me, as they fly great, with no bad habits........

SWAMPS Sunday 23.8.15

"Any body for a club reunion",  certainly felt like it,  9 cars, 10 pilots and later a visit from a past president Peter Donovan.

Add a perfect day for flying and you have a great club day out, really good to see some faces that we haven't seen for some time and  catchup. Sky was busy, as you could imagine with all these pilots and there aircraft.

Planes, Heli's and Drones  made it a variety day.

 

 

 Chris H and son Clay with there collection of aircraft for the day. Chris fine tuning the Mitchell Bomber with its twin OS 56 four strokes before its maiden flight.
Later Clay, assisted by dad, has a fly of that trusty Red Zephyr.

Right we have Martins table of plane and heli's, the electric orange Stearman having its maiden flight on the day. Below that is Tim,s Piper cub, which had several flights during the day, a popular model on the day with 3 different sized yellow cubs present and below that is Mikes   S Bach warming up....

Above is Johns Piper Cub, Left is a car full of Bobby H's, under the covers are a few heli's. Below are David C,s OS 120 four stroke powered Spitfire and the Cessna 310 with twin Enya 46 fourstrokes, all craft taking to the air sometime during the day..

 All in all a good day was had by all, plenty of snags on the barbie for lunch and no major mishaps on the day, although there was a reported upside down landing with a drone by David K..... Fred C  happy to just relax and watch, later had a fly of David C,s electric cub. Hope to see many more days like this as the weather improves....

David C's Giant Aeromaster

 Swamps Sunday 19 July, what a perfect day for the middle of winter. Plenty of sunshine and next to no wind, for the few that turned up, a great days flying. Field is in great condition for this time of year and track in is good also, only exception is the first gate if there has been rain the day before, just gets a little slippery on top due to cows but solid underneath. Days are rare like this, this time of year so make the best of them........
